Wold Escapes celebrate re-brand with Eddie Scott & Stephanie Moon
Eddie Scott & Stephanie Moon help celebrate the Wold Escapes launch day
On Friday 19th May the team here at Wold Escapes celebrated our recent re-brand with a launch day to share our little part of the Yorkshire Wolds with guests, showing them first hand what we have to offer.
In case you weren’t aware Wold Escapes used to be called the Yorkshire Wolds Cookery School and Highfield Farm Guest Accommodation. Operating from Highfield Farm just outside the village of Southburn in East Yorkshire since 2010, offering a range of cookery courses for all skill levels, with guest chefs especially chosen to provide excellent tuition in their specific fields. The nine bed and breakfast rooms attached to the cookery school provide overnight accommodation not only for those taking part in a cookery course but for anyone wanting to stay in the area.
In April 2021 we opened four glamping cabins named Goldie, Zebedee, Jiji and Crazy Mazy, followed by a fifth larger cabin, Jolly, in September 2022. We wanted to share this beautiful area with more people, and they have been extremely popular. Guests love to escape to the countryside to enjoy the peace, tranquility and beautiful views this part of the Yorkshire Wolds has to offer, and not forgetting that each glamping cabin has its own private hot tub overlooking the fields and trees. View our glamping cabins here.
The success of the glamping cabins, and with more and more people coming to enjoy the area led to the decision to re-brand to Wold Escapes, a unique retreat in the heart of the Yorkshire Wolds. A place where guests can come to relax, learn new skills and enjoy the countryside on foot exploring the footpaths over private farmland or further afield by bike. Our new website launched in March and now makes it easier for guests to see what we have to offer, whether it’s accommodation from our nine Bed & Breakfast rooms or five glamping cabins, a cookery course or a private dinner or event. Remember you will always get the best price when you book direct!

Wold Escapes Launch Day
On Friday 19th May 2023 we celebrated our new name, Wold Escapes, and our new branding, inviting guests to look round the site and see everything we have to offer first hand, and luckily for us it was a beautiful day and the sun shone.
The day started with acclaimed Yorkshire chef, and regular tutor at the Yorkshire Wolds Cookery School, Stephanie Moon running taster workshops. Guests were able to have a go at making Vietnamese Summer Rolls and JSR Pea & Cheddar Cakes topped with smoked salmon in the Yorkshire Wolds Cookery School kitchen. Stephanie is a regular tutor at the Yorkshire Wolds Cookery School, see all of our cookery classes on the link below:

A celebration isn’t really a celebration without cake is it? Well, we think not here at Wold Escapes, and we had the most wonderful cake on display in Jolly cabin which depicted all aspects of Wold Escapes, including cabins, nature, and food. The cake was designed, made and decorated by Rachel Kirkwood, a long-standing tutor at the cookery school, and we can confirm that it tasted delicious!
In Goldie cabin, local artist Peter Watson exhibited some of his paintings of landscapes from around the Wolds, as well as demonstrating live painting from the cabin’s private decking. His paintings were so popular that we believe he made one or two sales on the day. If you are interested in viewing more of his paintings we do display a selection of his artwork in our lounge and down the hallways to our B&B rooms, all of which are for sale. After a few photos lunch was served by none other than Eddie Scott, former Humber Pilot and MasterChef winner 2022. Eddie served his famous lamb biryani of Hyderabad, his signature dish on the hit BBC TV show. Eddie Scott then spoke to the audience about the experience that was MasterChef, as well as his time working at Michelin Star restaurant, The Pipe & Glass, Beverley, alongside chef James Mackenzie, and then at the three-star Michelin restaurant, Gordon Ramsey in London.
Stephanie Moon served dessert which was a lemon posset and a brookie (which is the latest Instagram craze, a cross between a brownie and cookie and trust us it tastes amazing!). Guests left having had a thoroughly good time, including the new High Sheriff of the East Riding of Yorkshire, Tina Cerutti who said:
“What a wonderful event. I am sure this is glamping at its very best, very well done and I wish you the very best.”
Georgina Renfrew, our wonderful Manager here at Wold Escapes said:
“We are so pleased to share this little part of the Yorkshire Wolds with more people through Wold Escapes. It is so beautiful down here whether you are staying with us in one of our glamping cabins or in one of our bed and breakfast rooms, holding a private function or participating in one of the classes at our cookery school. There is so much you can do here, and we always try to accommodate our guests requests.”
Wold Escapes is a destination for accommodation, to learn new skills or host a private event
