Our glamping cabins are dog friendly!

Our guide on things to do with your dog when glamping with us at Wold Escapes!

Looking for a staycation but want to bring your favourite furry friend with you?  Then look no further than Wold Escapes glamping cabins!  Our cabins are dog friendly and you can book your favourite family members in when you book, we accept up to two dogs per cabin.

Wold Escapes is the perfect getaway for dogs!

We are the perfect destination if you want to bring your dogs on a glamping minibreak.  Located in the beautiful Yorkshire Wolds near Driffield we have numerous dog walks on our doorstep.

Our guests have exclusive access to two walks over the private farmland surrounding Wold Escapes, including a walk around the Chalk Stream Sanctuary which is a haven for wildlife – so dogs on leads please!  Last year we made a shorter walk through some of our woodland for those quick first thing in the morning or last thing at night walks (remembering those poo bags please 😊).

Dog walking on the beach!

If you want to travel further afield and do some exploring, then Wold Escapes is not far from the beautiful East Yorkshire coast beaches.  We are lucky to have big wide open beaches here in East Yorkshire many of which are open to dogs all year round.

Here is a few of our favourite beaches which have no dog restrictions throughout the year:

Wold Escapes Dog on the Beach

Fraisthorpe beach, YO15 3QU

It is only a 25 minute drive from Wold Escapes to this well renowned dog walking beach.  The Cowshed café is a must and you can eat in or get takeaway food and drinks, there are some toilets in a converted milk parlour and the pay and display car park is in a field straight above the beach.

You will find some old World War 2 structures on the beach to add some more adventure into your walk.  The sands are wide and long and the sea is shallow for a long way, making it ideal if you dog likes a good paddle.

The three mile walk into Bridlington is one of our favourites but do be aware that from 1st May – 30th September dogs are not allowed in the central beach section at Bridlington, though you can easily walk that stretch on the promenade.  Please also check when high tide is, as the route back on the coast path is much longer.

Barmston Beach, YO25 8PJ

Just down the beach from Fraisethorpe, Barmston Beach is much quieter, even though on the same stretch of sand which extends down from Bridlington.  Dog friendly all year round it is a 30 minute drive from Wold Escapes.

Hunmanby Gap, YO14 9QP

If you fancy a slightly longer journey (35 minutes drive from Wold Escapes) and a different stretch of coast then try Hunmanby Gap.  Dog friendly all year round with a pay and display car park, toilets and a small café it has everything you need, and the scenery is certainly stunning!

Danes Dyke, Yo15 1AA

Danes Dyke is another one of our favourites.  From the car park you can choose from several options for your walk taking you through the woods and onto the beach.  Dogs are welcome all year round and they have a café and toilets – always a bonus!

Want to try a dog Field?

There are a few dog fields near us if you’d like to let your dog off the lead safe in the knowledge that they are contained and can’t get near any roads or other hazards.  These are our suggestions:

Driffield Dog Field

This is probably the nearest and is just outside Driffield opposite Horsefair Lane, Little Driffield, YO25 5XB

Molescroft & Walkington Dog Walking Fields

There are four dog walking fields on the outskirts of Beverley varying in size.

Not a beach fan? Then these are our other dog walking recommendations:

Beverley Westwood, HU17 8RG

This 500 acre pasture is a very popular dog walking spot with the added bonus of being able to walk into the beautiful market town of Beverley where you will find several shops which are dog friendly.  You can park anywhere along the side of the road but do be aware that there is likely to be cows roaming freely so if you or your dog are a bit nervous of them then you may want to choose your spot carefully.  Don’t be put off though it is very beautiful and the cows are used to sharing their pasture with others.

For more walks around the area we recommend checking out this website: Walking the Wolds with Bill & Mrs M.

There are several walks round the area which Bill and Mrs M have already mapped out for you.  This is ideal if you want to plan your route more carefully as they have done all that work for you!  Our favourites are Cottam, Field House Square and the walks round Huggate.
