Greener glamping getaways! Wold Escapes embraces sustainable luxury

Wold Escapes the unique retreat in the heart of the Yorkshire Wolds just got a little more special whilst improving our environmental credentials!

The team here at Wold Escapes is committed to offering our guests luxurious stays in our glamping cabins, and we are thrilled to announce that we have recently installed seven state-of-the-art air source heat pumps  to power each of our cabins and their private hot tubs.

Reducing our carbon foot print

This environmentally conscious upgrade has allowed us to significantly reduce our carbon footprint whilst also enhancing the experience for our guests.  Not only are these heat pumps far more energy-efficient than traditional heating methods, but they also ensure our hot tubs heat up faster and more reliably.  This means we can clean our hot tubs and get them heated up in time for guests checking in that very same day.  The cabins stay toasty warm, even when its freezing cold outside, and there’s plenty of hot water for the ensuite showers.

The heat pumps consume roughly one-third of the electricity of the previous system, meaning our carbon footprint continues to shrink while we benefit from a more reliable energy source.

Our journey to becoming a more sustainable site didn’t just start here.  We installed solar panels on the roof of our farmhouse several years ago which went some way to heating our on-site cookery school, farmhouse and glamping cabins.  Our new air source heat pumps are the next leap forward in reducing our environmental impact.  As we continue to grow and develop, we are dedicated to doing this in an environmentally conscious way.

Keeping it local

For this project we partnered with Hull-based company, Ideal Heating who supplied the pumps, Finesse Plumbing and Heating, a local company just a few miles down the road in Cranswick.  The switch has already delivered significant operational and environmental benefits, reinforcing our commitment to responsible tourism.
