Get Comfortable Being Uncomfortable: The Great Pacific Escapade

An inspirational talk with record-breaking ocean rowers Miriam Payne & Jess Rowe

Wold Escapes is delighted to host a talk in the kitchen and dining rooms of the Yorkshire Wolds Cookery School from the female duo behind Seas the Day — the first women to row non-stop and unsupported across the Pacific Ocean, mainland to mainland.

Taking 165 days and covering 8,213 nautical miles, Miriam and Jess rowed from Peru to Australia, facing 30ft waves, equipment failures, sleep deprivation and the mental challenge of restarting after an early setback forced them to abandon their first attempt.

Their story is one of resilience, teamwork and mindset — and an inspiring reminder of what’s possible when you step outside your comfort zone. Along the way, they broke world records and raised nearly £100,000 for The Outward Bound Trust.
